Need new PC361 pitch bend wheel - tuning problem

Postby marku » Wed Nov 07, 2018 6:05 pm

I just queried a few sources online and cannot find a new one. was closest one in my attempt that showed listing but said that the part is discontinued and no longer available.

My wheel is acting erratic in diagnostic even after cleaning so I must get another. I had done ok with periodic spray cleaning but now malfunctioning which affects my tuning if I do have wheel turned off in software.

Any help appreciated!

PS- I have feeling I may strike out in finding new one, so any experience on replacing the pot myself for my PC3 unit may also help - although I am novice at electrical work.

Replace the original "Alpha" pots by better ones.
For my PC361, I used some ALPS 10k lin which is smaller and sealed.
It requires some skills though,- so my friend who´s a service tech, did it.
I´m a heavy pitch bender when doing synth work.
The Alpha pot in the pitch wheel assembly was done after about a year for the 1st time and the original replacement needed half a year only.
The next time we used the ALPS and it´s fine ´til today.
Next coming was the mod-wheel pot,- but that´s much more rare.

According to the ALPS pot part number:
IIRC, it was one from ALPS RK163111 series and being orderd from Mouser.
B.t.w.,- Yamaha uses APS pots too for pitchbend assembly.

Hope that helps ...
