Soft Cell - Tainted Love

I've been trying to figure out how to program the Softcell "Tainted Love" sounds on a k2700 and not having much luck. Has anybody had success or tried to create these sounds using a kurzweil before or is it just not possible? A hint on where to start from scratch would be helpful or if anybody has the sound and is willing to share that's great too. I'm not a sound programmer and most of my sound creations and multis on my board have stemmed from taking exist patches and tweaking/morphing them into something different - nothing in the Kurzweil pallette is even close that I've found so thought I'd ask if anybody else has had success

This works pretty well in a band setting. I put the clav zone on an expression pedal- CC.Pedal 2- so I could reduce its volume ~20%, as needed.

This multi works well for me. Strings are on an expression pedal. I fade them in for backing the guitar solo. Strings are down when multi loads.

Miami Brass and AK Wild Lead share the same key range. I crossfade them with a 2nd expression pedal- linear/reverse linear. Brass is up when multi loads.

PC3 Subharmonic Series (additive synth programs)

For the PC3, I made a Program with a series of +sines (2 per layer) tuned to a fundamental plus the first 15 partials of the subharmonic series. It's a weird tone, and perhaps not useful for more than creating artificial sounding cymbals, gongs, or wind-chimes. However, with different balances of tones and envelopes, you might be able to make some unique bass sounds, and space ship sounds.

I also included a program that is 16 tones of the harmonic series-- with the same structure. Sounds goofy.

A third program merges the two for a very complex tone.

The idea would be that by varying the level and envelope of the layers, you might be able to make some unique tones that might be similar to a wavetable in personality.

Here is a complex setup for playing come sail away: Start by pushing SW to On (Switch to Piano) and pushing expression pedal down & back, 2nd verse: Expression pedal brings in synth and toggles phase strings on. Middle solo section E1 is syn drum, hit SW for full phase synth and lead. SW to finish back on Piano. Note, I don't normally play the piano part on the PC3K and midi my GEM Real Piano 2 that's why you have to push SW at first. Also I can not figure out how to get the toggle of the background phase strings to start in the OFF state so the pedal set down & back fixes it. Sugarloaf- Green Eyed Lady-PC3

Here are two PC3 setups I made for Green Eyed Lady. -The first setup (Green Eyed Lady1) is the main setup for the song. It is a KB3 setup so the sliders and KB3 buttons all function for the organ (except slider 'A') -The 'A' slider controls the left hand bass line Clav volume. -Expression pedal (CC1) controls only the organ volume, -The Mod wheel increases the organ distortion. -Footswitch 1 is leslie on/off. -footswitch 2 will increase to the next setup (The clav setup for the 1/2 step riff). -Play with the vibrato functions and the pitch bender for the effects near the end of the song. -The second setup (Green clav) requires the Kore 64 expansion for it's effects, but can be used without it. -Footswitch 2 will decrease to the previous setup for returning to 'Green Eyed Lady1'

Here's a set-up to play Swingtown. From Low "A" to "G3" is a Strat/Clavinet type sound to simulate the clean guitar part. From "E5" to "E6" is a sound for the main synth line. "G5" to "D7" is a synth brass sound that sounds great for the 3 part instrumental part on the end section of the song. Play the synth melody with your left hand, add the 2 part harmonies with your right. Oh, and from "F#7" to "C8" is the jet sound from the very end of the song. Have fun.
