Hi there, I was looking for the replies to my post about the differences between PC2RIB and PC2SRIB, but I can't find them any more. I remember someone wrote to me and tried to help me out....
Anyway, I talked with the dealer and finally he replaced the ribbon with another one new (another same PC2RIB), but i still have problems to use it. With my old k2600 rib used to work without doing anything into the PROG/SETUP settings. Now with PC3K7 it seems to be different.
Maybe I have to set the ribbon for each PROG/SETUP I need to play with? Is this correct?
I red about the feature of three indipendent zones or just one long area... When I plug in the ribbon it's not working. in DIAGNOSTICS (pressing 4 - 5 - 6 simultaneously) when i try to get an output value from the ribbon I have no response at all. Then suddenly I tried to pull up very softly the cable and press with the finger onto the ribbon. finally I had few output values in sector 1 and 2 : hold [255] and sector 3 sometimes different values but not as fine as I expexted. i'm worried now, i'm not a technician but i'm afraid the trouble is not because of the ribbon, but the jack phone hole damaged...
HELP.
My warranty time is still valid as I bought the keyb last november... Is there a way to fix it without sending to the store?
Very Sad.... thanks

I own a PC2SRIB and a PC3K8.

Frankly it should just be plug and play.

Every program uses it as a 2 or 3 octave slide out of the box.

I'm seriously wondering if the PC2RIB is compatible.

Either that or else have you tried a factory reset to make sure something is not misconfigured on your PC3K7? Make sure you back everything up first though.

Here's a discussion of the electrical characteristics of the PC2SRIB.

http://modularsynthesis.com/modules/DJB-011/djb011.htm

From what I can tell the PC2RIB is meant to work with the Expressionmate Controlller or the K2661 series.

But Kurzweil's site says the PC2SRIB is also compatible with K2661 and Expressionmate.

http://kurzweil.com/accessory/pc2srib_s ... ontroller/

So my guess is either they shipped you two bum units in a row, or your PC3K is misconfigured or as you guessed the port is defective.

Since my PC2SRIB works with my PC3K out of the box, I'd suggest a keyboard reset. If that doesn't work then take the controller to a store and see if it works with a floor demo Kurzweil or not. If it still doesn't work, then you know it's the controller. If it works on a store demo then you know the port on your PC3K is malfunctioning.

Actually the easiest way to tell if it's working properly just occurred to me.

Press down Buttons 4,5 & 6 simultaneously to put your Kurzweil into diagnostic mode.

Then slide your finger up and down the ribbon.

If you don't see appropriate numbers for ribbons 1, 2 & 3 ranging from 0 to 127 then there is definitely some sort of hardware problem.

To isolate whether it's the controller or the keyboard try it on another Kurzweil Keyboard.

Hope this helps,
Gary ;)
