2026 is here. What to expect here at KSetlist?

Well, depending when the new SP8 gets released to the public, right now being shown at the NAMM show, we will see a good number of SP8 users coming over here.

KSetlist has always been a good place for SP users. SP boards only offer basic editing on board, more complete with the Sound Tower editors. But that type of users tend to be more turn on and play rather than turn on, tweak things for an hour, then play. So, the huge library we have here, that YOU have created, help them immensely. Always remember that I just put the platform, YOU create the content for others and use the content that others have created. This is a community. All of you are in charge here.

I also expect more K2061 and K2088 users as the boards are selling very well and reaching lots of people. We are getting lots of good comments specially from the K2061 users as they had been waiting for a 61 keys action for a long time. From these K-users I would love if they upload some of their sounds. I know they create sounds. They make amazing stuff. Please share just a few of them. We don’t ask for much, just a few. Lots of people will thank you for that and that’s what makes this site special.

in the Spring we will do our traditional site fundraiser to pay for the hosting site. We will do it via PayPal (or Venmo for US folks) but directly, without any button. More info in the Spring.

We are in a transitional time in our industry with AI stuff popping up everywhere, and nobody knows how that will change our industry. And it will. But, remember, over all, these are musical instruments for musicians to play music with amazing sounds. No matter where our world is heading, enjoy playing music and make others enjoy listening to your music.

With the release of the K2088 and K2061, plus the K2700 and PC4 still going strong and, of course, all the second hand folks, Ksetlist keeps growing.

Remember to upload sounds!!! This site is what it is thanks to many users that during the years have been uploading awesome sounds for so many songs. If you haven’t uploaded anything yet, please do so. I’m sure you have a perfect program or multi to play a well known song. Share it with all the community. Because that’s what Ksetlist is, a community. Other players will thank you forever!

While I maintain Ksetlist personally, you all know the site is for you by you. You create the content and you use the content that others create. Because of that, I want to keep you up to date with the finances of the site.

With the new hosting change I have been able to reduce the anual cost as the new company includes the SSL certificate by default, which cost around $100 in the previous company. So now we are up to a hundred and something dollars per year.

As you see, there are ads. I keep the ads to a minimum so that they are not a nuisance. This site is not a click-bait site and it has not intention of becoming one. I might see if I could add a few ads more here and there but only if they are not too annoying.

The last check ($100) I got from Google was in 2019! Since then, the ads have not generated another $100 yet, which is the minimum for Google to pay. Yup, it’s like that. On the great news, I’m close to get a new one! With that new one and the few donations received in the past months, we’ll be all set for another year.

The Donations widget is gone. The reason is that Paypal now considers that kind of widget as a tool for non-profit charities. Ksetlist is a community of users, not a charity.

Even with the help of many of you, Ksetlist has never covered the costs. But at least it hasn’t been terrible. Thanks to those who have donated and get the Patron sticker!

So, we are all set for another year. In the meantime we’ll have to figure out what to do next Spring.

Ksetlist should be up and running correctly now. Last days I had a DNS issue that didn’t let some users access the site.

Now the whole port to the new hosting serve is completed.

Time to share some sounds 😉

Ksetlist changed host companies this month. In principle the port went smoothly.

But, some people are getting an error when connecting to ksetlist from some browsers or devices but not from others.

I’m investigating what’s this about with the new hosting company.

Godaddy’s prices are too high to be sustainable. I’m moving to another hosting company to reduce costs.

Dear Ksetlisters,

It’s been a while since I wrote you here. I have been very busy working on the upcoming K2088 and K2061, two very nice boards that I hope some of you will get and enjoy.

Spring is the time of the year when I need to renew the security certificate ($99) and the domain renewal (this part is cheaper). The security certificate is needed so that the browsers don’t complain about the website. It’s a money grab, really. But, it’s really necessary if we want to have a functional Ksetlist.

As you know, this site is not sponsored by Kurzweil. Yes, I work there, but I started Ksetlist many many years ago before the security certificates were even a mandatory thing, just to have a place to share sounds for Kurzweil keyboards.

This year I’d like to ask for 20 volunteers that have never donated before to click on that yellow donate button in the site and donate those $5 that will keep this site alive. As I always write here, because it’s true, I should raise the $99 or my wife will be mad. And you don’t want her to be mad. Believe me!

Some people have donated multiple years (Thank you all!) but I think this is the year for those of you who have never done it and have downloaded some of the awesome sounds that other people have shared with all of us, to donate for the first time. Just click on the donate button and put those $5 to keep Ksetlist alive.

Welcome to all the new members to Ksetlist!

It’s been a nice steady stream of new Kurzweil users coming this way. Hope you enjoy the sounds that other people have uploaded here and hope you will also upload your own sounds.

Ksetlist is a community based on sharing sounds by Kurzweil users like you. Please contribute.

As you know, the site is not about me or about Kurzweil as a company, I just put the framework for all this. But this is about you. About the sounds you need and about the sounds you already have that others need. A platform to put together all of you in an orderly way.

I’d like to thank those who religiously put $5/year to help me with the costs of the site. Even people that own other websites are doing this, which is amazingly generous.

This is the time of the year when I have to pay the $99 of the security certificate, which is one of the biggest costs Ksetlist has. If you have already contributed, thanks, but if you haven’t, please contribute with $5 via the Paypal link you can see on the site. It’s easy, it’s secure and it keeps this site alive. Even more important, it avoids that my wife gets mad at me for spending the money on this. And I can tell you, you don’t want that!

2024 will also give us two new Kurzweil pro keyboards, the K2088 and the K2061, as we showed at NAMM. They will come later in the year but they will be compatible, format-wise, with the K2700/PC4/PC4SE/Forte, so files will be easily shareable between those products. I expect to see a bunch of K2088/61 users eventually here at Ksetlist. For that I need all of you to tell the world that this site actually exists!

We’ve reached 2,600 REAL members at Ksetlist. And this is a real number since I cleaned up tens of thousands of fake spam accounts. To all of you, thank you so much for being a part of this community.

Ksetlist was thought from the beginning to be a place to share sounds between Kurzweil users. Sounds made by you to make the life of others much easier. A true community.

I’d like to thank all of you who have shared a sound here. You make this place! I’m just putting the framework for you guys to use it.

Fall 2023 is here! It is getting colder in the North and it’s time to get cozy in your studios and crank up some nice sounds. Please consider sharing something during this season.

NAMM 2023 was a good NAMM for us in Kurzweilworld. Smaller than others for sure and with some notable absences (No Roland, Korg just a sales box, …) but for us it was positive.

Our booth was inside the AM&S area as they are Kurzweil US distributors and they run the whole show really well. We had K2700, PC4, PC4 SE, SP7G and the new SP7 ready for people to give them a try. One of the best things at NAMM is to interact with the Kurzweil users at the booth and hear their stories. From the guy that had more than 100 synths, including several Kurzweil keyboards, to the gal that was trying one to step up her gear.

We had very good performances at the AM&S stage that brought big crowds. Chris Martirano as always showing lots and lots of features of our keyboards, Myron McKinley trio were out of this world, Kash Iyengar (with his drummer Cole) is growing each year as a keyboard wizard and the always tasteful Nick Smith with his smooth jazz. Additionally Myron played a K2700at the MIDI@40 event in the NAMM big stage to celebrate the 40th anniversary of MIDI in a show full of superstars like Mark Ishan, Jordan Rudess, Mike Garson and others.

Next year NAMM is back to January and, hopefully, back to its full size.
