Hello Everyone
I'm struggling to find/tweak a sound suitable for this song, which seems to be something of a staple sound for BJs keysman, David Bryan.
It seems to me smoother in sound to Jump-esque synth sounds, but it's hard to hear clearly as it's not played in isolation during the song.
Anyone suggestions/alternatives would be most welcome!

just registered for writing now, so I can help a bit on this topic.
Try live versions, there you may hear the sound a bit better, just like here:

On the record and 1984 live shows, Bryan uses a Korg Polysix (browse the 1984 live videos, there you can see it), later on, a Memorymoog was added to his set.
The sound itself is similar to that one used for Journeys "seperate ways" (Intro). Someone posted a program for this song here, so just try out this one.
I had a go at recording this track a short while ago, first time that the whole band played in one take so I skipped the keyboard riff near the start.
So this works as a starting point to make a proper setup:
Layer 1 : 211 ARP2500 Brass
Low volume for the "loaded gun" lines.
Layer 2 : 211 ARP2500 Brass
Slightly louder for extra emphasis on the chorus.
Layer 3 : 129 Piano Stack
Works nicely played soft nearly pad sound for chords, rings out in the second verse like a charm.

Worked out well imo:
