Is there anyway to manipulate the sounds on the PC3K8 in getting the "Classic E" and "Digital E" Pianos from the PC88mx or download them. I really miss those 2 EP's. Also, how do you get a soft string patch to have a slow fade in like the Touch strings from the PC88mx or K2600 series? Thanks for any help concerning this.
Strings:
Depends on the way the sound is programmed. Most likely you have to find the layer that does the sound (on romwave-based sounds usually all) and go to the AMPENV page. Check the first parameter "attack" and raise the value to, say 2.0 (2 seconds). Most likely you have to do this on every layer. Again, depends on how the sound is programmed.
Epianos: I don´t know. Maybe somewhere anyone already has done something like that. The problem is just to find that. I am quite sure the PC3 can do all the sounds earlier PC´s did, since it has all the waveforms and more synthesizing capabilities.
The String advice you gave worked perfectly. Thank you very much! Still trying to figure out how to get some brighter but not thin sounding EP's like the PC88mx has. My two favorites are the Classic and Digital EP's. That is my only thing I miss about the PC88mx. Wish there were samples of those to load into the PC3K8. Anyway, THANKS AGAIN!
Glad to help (at least one of my suggestions lead to something, lol).
With the pianos: I don´t know exactly, but since the PC3 has nearly all the stuff from former models in it, maybe it HAS the same basic samples of those pianos. You may check for yourself.
Choose No 6 "Power Pop Piano". It´s a good starter because there is just one layer.
Edit, go to KEYMAP and switch stereo OFF. Go to OUTPUT and make PAN = 0 to get that annoying pan into the middle.
Back to KEYMAP, now scroll the samples. Right behind the pianos, there are some EP-samples.
In case you own the KORE expansion, there are some more, starting with keymaps no. 3223.
The synthesizer is able to stronlgy alter the sound of this basic material, but it might give you a feel if there is a component of the sound that you know from the PC2.
And you own a K model. You might also load the "K-series compatibility file" from Kurzweil. It contains more waveforms (keymaps) - well, I did not check if there are more EP-samples, but it might be worth to look at it. Maybe someone here knows (Hippogrito?). Since Kurzweil uses the same material together with new stuff in their instruments, the old ones really should be there.
Last tip: Go thorugh old sound libraries from the K-series. The PC3K can load all that stuff, including samples. You might find what you look for. Or at least something very close.
Most probably you have to check wrong pan-parameters (often happens), but now you know how to fix that.
Usually you also have to attach a suitable FX to it manually, since this component is not compatible.
Have fun exporing the VAST possibilities!
PS: Ah, and better save your whole system before you start exploring. You can go back to where you are now in case you make a mess ![]()
PS II: Maybe show a demo of the sound you look for and maybe I will try to program something. ![]()
