I have a SP4-7 and want to try some of the PC3 programs (aka voices)
Kurzweil provides a nice list on their site of over 4200 programs but in most cases the names of these programs don't tell me what type/category (Piano, EP, Synth, Organ, etc.) of sound it is.
I contacted Kurzweil support and was told they don't have such a list because at the time things were developed there weren't' sufficient resources to do so.
I do not have the Sound Tower Software
I am using the method found here to load one Program at a time by copying files that look like this: prog1.PLE ..... prog4223.PLE
Loading one file at a time 4223 times to try it out when I am only interested in one category type (example: ORGANs) is not very appealing.
Does any one have a list of programs grouped into categories?
Thanks
Peter
PS/ Here is a sample of Kurzweil documentation for the Program list:
Program 0 None
Program 1 Standard Grand
Program 2 Studio Grand
Program 3 RubensteinSWComp
Program 4 Horowitz Grand
Program 5 NYC Jazz Grand
Program 6 Pop Power Piano
Program 7 ColdPliano
Program 8 Grand "Evans
.....
Program 4221 Helicopter
Program 4222 Applause
Program 4223 Gun Shot
Hi Peter
I have the same concern as you do. Im going to buy a SP4 and I want to make sure ill be able to browse PC3 sounds.
I found a tip on the forum to group PC3 sounds by category : download the soundtower PC3 editor demo, it shows the presets grouped by cat !
If you make an excel list, please share !
Here's a zip file file that contains a text file that shows the id-number, category, and program name for the PC3LE v2.26 programs. The fields are tab separated, so it should be good for text editors, spreadsheets and databases. There are 1064 lines. The file is sorted by category, with programs sorted by name within each category.
235 Bass AC Buzzer Bass 4128 Bass Acoustic Bass 107 Bass Beasties Bass ... 424 Winds Tremolo Flute 4174 Winds Whistle 442 Winds Woodwind Section
Enjoy!

Fran can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I believe the PC3 series of keyboards have a built in function that allows exporting the patch names and numbers as a raw dumped text file to a memory card or computer.
No idea what page to look at in the manuals though.
If Fran knows the page for the PC3K line I'd be interested in knowing it as well.

Yes, they can export an object list, but you get only object type, id, and name. No category.
Pages:
