Greetings all,
As the subject line says, I'm dusting off my PC361 which I've owned since they were first introduced. Being a life long KANSAS fan, I was impressed with the sounds that Steve Walsh (now former member) had coming out of his set up and decided I had to have a Kurzweil. When I first got it, I played the heck out of it in my home studio, used it in a now defunct band I was in but now it has just sat off to the side for about two years! During that time I did have the pleasure of seeing KANSAS three times during their 40th Anniversary Tour. Each time I bought the VIP Meet & Greet Package and have some great photos of me standing next to Steve Walsh! In one photo I was even wearing my Kurzweil Systems T-Shirt.
I have never got into the programming side of the Kurzweil keyboards. I tried for a while but became quickly overwhelmed. In the mean time, I "Went to the Dark Side" and purchased a Yamaha Motif XF6 and now that I've worked extensively with it I now have a better understanding of programming splits, layers, building sounds from scratch, etc. and now want to learn the same on the PC361. One thing that really impressed my was the guy playing Mr. Crowley on this Youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m76Z3sVfGqU
I'd really like to learn the ins and outs on how he did this and then take it from there to learn more.
About me: I'm a 50 something classic rocker just enjoying playing music in my home studio. My influences are of course KANSAS, Styx, Supertramp, Van Halen, ELP and other bands from the 70's & 80's that have a keyboard player. I'm glad I found this site and look forward to sharing my experiences with other Kurzweil owners.
My gear: Kurzweil PC361, Yamaha Motix XF6, Akai AX-80 (Fat Analog Sounds) & a Roland D5.
Rock On!
Jim
