Greetings. Long time Kurzweil fan, new owner. I’ve always been impressed with the Kurzweils since playing a K250 back circa 1988 or so but as the sticker on that one I played was creeping into the range of the price I paid for my first new car that one was not to be.
Over the years I’ve have the opportunity to own about a dozen keyboards of various types and vintages but somehow I had always been steered by sales guys towards the Korg X or the Roland Y and passed up several opportunities to be a Kurzweil owner. A few weeks ago after considerable research looking for a board to compliment my home setup and anchor my away setup I decided to give the Kurzweil a serious look and, long story short, am now the new owner of a PC3K7.
I’m thoroughly blown away by what the PC3K7 is capable of and I know I’m barely scratching the surface. Of the electronic musical instruments that I have ever owned, this is one of the most intelligently, logically and focused pieces of equipment that I’ve ever had the pleasure of using in regard to recreating and inventing new sounds in terms of breathing life into the music it can create. That this board is equally a player's instrument and a composer/songwriter/audio inventor's tool kit is so impressive and that is something that is not easily accomplished. This is especially visible when looking at the landscape of what is available out there in the world now and giving a real close look at what these instruments and/or devices are capable of. The only thing that makes me a little bit sad is that I waited this long before giving Kurzweil a prominent place on my primary keyboard stand.
I'm looking forward to seeing some “behind the scenes” and “under the hood” looks at what other folks have been able to unleash from this great musical tool because I suspect this new board may very well become a key component in achieving my own personal musical creativity and performance goals.
