Hello all,
I'm Andy, and am finally saying hello having lurked around here for a while.
Been writing music for many years, mainly for the fun of it, but in recent years have had little time for it. What time I do have is spent playing in a Pink Floyd tribute - Just Floyd - based in Kent (UK). Check out our web site if you have time, and have a listen to a couple of our live recordings... let me know what you think (if you like us!!) ( http://justfloyd.co.uk ).
I've used Kurzweils for few years - K2600 from 2007/8, replaced with PC3K7 a few years back for the FLASH sample storage and its (relatively) light-weight. Prior to the K2600, my main keys were Emu, but their transition into a Windoze-only world eventually forced me to jump ship. Actually, I had a PC88 way back (can it really be 20 years ago?!).
I also own Dave Smith's Mono and Poly Evolver Keyboards - which I absolutely love. I use the MEK live as it's smaller to lug around, and does great sounds that are just what I need. Sadly, these days the Poly Evo spends most of its time in a case in the corner.
My live rig is completed with a VL70m/breath controller for sax sounds - a greatly expressive instrument that seems to cause more positive comment than any of the others - and a Hammond XK1c, which, for me at least, just has 'that' sound in a way that the Emus and Kurzweils (& other makes) don't quite - especially when my PC3 spends its whole life in complicated multi-layer setups.
Best regards, Andy
