Hi Kurweil players,
My name is Pim van Harten, from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but for the past 7 years I reside in Beirut, Lebanon.
As soon as I arrived in Beirut, and discovered the small but flourishing and growing music scene, I started gigging... and I needed a board. I chose the PC3X and it has been my loyal, undefeatable, ultra-reliable, great sounding workhorse while doing jazz, soul-funk and everything in between-gigs since.
While mostly playing jazz, I have not discovered the sonic possibilities of the PC3X. But I have tweaked a more rich timbre piano sound that I will share soon. Only recently I have delved into creating elaborate set ups and quick access for playing a rock show... and a new world has opened to me ![]()
In addition, I saw a Kurzweil K2000 V3 for sale for $150...which I figured was worth it only for having an other MIDI keyboard around... but since I have been exploring the presets, downloads from internet and sonic possibilities of the K2000 too !
In short, the world of Kurzweil soundsculpting is slowly opening to me... and I can see years (and many many gigs) of sonic bliss in front of me ![]()
The only challenge my Kurzweils face is a newly obtained synth treasure competing for my time these days... a Moog Concertmate MG-1 !
As for PC3X sounds I will share: I did an attempt at the 'Gong' intro of Beat It... for coverband keyboardplayers ! And a much richer timbre grandpiano sound that I arrived at tweaking the 'Closed Grand' file I came across on the internet, and following the advise found on internet to eliminate the compression, and eq-ed to taste.
Very happy to have stumbled onto this forum !
Keep tweaking !
Pim
