I'm a returning Kurzweil user. My first pro level keyboard was a K1000SE that was purchased in 1989 by a music organization for visually impaired people that my 15 year old self got to play in the organization's band. that was where it started. While that keyboard did not technically belong to me, I used it for years. When I bought my first Kurzweil, it was a K2661 in 2004. By then, I was a huge Jordan Rudess fan, ever since I saw him in 1995 with what was then a prototype of the K2500. I lusted after a Kurzsweil for years, but couldn't afford one until the K2661. IN 2009, I was in an original prog rock band and got an endorsement from AMS and got a PC3 76 key keyboard. I used it for a while and moved away from Kurzweil just before the Core64 came out. Last week, I purchased a used Kurzweil PC3A7 keyboard. My cousin is lusting after the Artis 7 and while I'd love to try out a forte, I can't afford it, plus I don't really do well on weighted keys, and I love the Kurzweil ribbon controller, so that rules out the newer keybaords, so the PC3A is fine. I'm a totally blind musician who lives and dies by all forms of rock music, from classic to prog to hard rock and metal, even to 70s and 80s pop, since I grew up on that stuff. I currently play in a classic rock cover band called, ironically enough, Illegally Blind and plan on adding the Kurzweil to the keyboard setup along with the pieces I've been using. My aim is to find sounds for my studio and live needs and while I'm not sure how well I can do with programming a Kurzweil, I would like to learn. I have the PC editor as well as the Ipad editor and hope one of those will work with my screen reading technology to open up programming some patches and setups for my needs that I can eventually share with others. Coming from a Yamaha Motif/Montage and Nord sTage background for the last several years, the Kurzweil is and always has been a daunting beast to get into the guts of, but I hope to make this more than a dedicated preset box for myself. Thanks for paying attention.
