Hey Kurz fellows,
Interested in getting Artis 7. I'd like to know if it supports separate FX chains/settings for the different parts/layers/splits. Also, could the FXs be switched off from the keyboard itself (in case I'd use my Neo Vent) or is it only possible by tweaking within the soft editor? Thanks!

Hi,
In Kurzweil terminology, when you are dealing with layers/splits we call it Multi (or Setup) mode.
In Multi mode of your Artis you can have 4 zones and in each one you have a Program. This Program would normally have an Insert Chain FX (A chain is a combination of FXs.... Reverb + Chorus + Delay + whatever...)
Those FXs will work if they fit within the limits of the machine (There is a max number of FX units).
Then, there are 2 aux FXs, that apply to all the channels. In your multi you could decide which program's aux FXs will rule the Aux FXs.
The Artis does not have internal editing for those FXs but it has an external editor that will let you do some of that work from a PC/Mac http://kurzweil.com/product/artis7/downloads/ There're also iPad and plug-Ins utilities available for free.
