I have a Kurz Artis that is acting very strange in that I am getting infrequent and unpredictable pitch bends in the middle of playing without asking or directing the board to give me one. Often happens with the use of the sustain pedal, but today it happened out of the blue with no pedal in use. Very odd! On the read-out screen I can see the varying degrees of pitch bend in play, but at no time did I ever intentionally demand it. Very hard to sing when your keyboard randomly changes key on you. Anyone else deal with this, or have a suggested fix?

Experiment:. Disable the pitch wheel and see if the phenomena stops. If it does then the pitch wheel is failing and needs to be replaced.

Thanks for that Dave !
Now, not being a very capable technician regarding such matters, I presume I will need more help than my manual will give me to get that done.

For programs, control setup #126 controls how controllers react universally for programs. So go into control setup #126 and disable the pitchbend wheel by setting it to not go past zero in either direction. For performances/setups make sure for each zone in the setup the pitch wheel is disabled by setting it to zero.

I agree with Dave, I had the same issue with my PC2X; I am now using it with pitch wheel control disabled.
I am sure the wheel hardware is defective but there is no pitch modifications any longer.

If you find that the pitchbend wheel is defective but still want/need pitchbend you could assign pitchbend to a different controller, like the mod wheel, a slider or knob. Do this in control setup #126 and all of your programs will create pitchbend when you use the newly assigned controller.

I have experienced this with my PC3K8 as well. The pitch at times (mostly right after boot up) will detune slightly. I thought it was the aftertouch or a flaw in the key bed somehow. Maybe it’s the PB wheel after all. Sometimes my music room gets a little cold. That’s when I find this happening the most. I will do the same trick and see what happens. Maybe I’ll put the thing in the snow for a couple of hours first!
