Are there any good piano samples out there? Where can I find it?

Hi,
I remember there has been some discussion about this on "mastering Vast". There is a set from Sweetwater, but also another one that I liked more. Did not look into that any further, I have no K version.

Thank you.

Ive seen them but isnt that the older k2000 samples? A bit thin what Ive heard so far. Do you remember what "the other" set was from?

Hm, well here is the thread:
http://www.cunka.com/forum/index.php?topic=3685.0
And yes, it´s about the older K2xxx-Versions sounds. Don´t worry about "thin", it depends on the way the sound is processed, most probably not how the sample was done. I listened to some demos of "K-sounds"
http://ksounds.com/html/volume_2.html and they sound pretty good to me.
I cannot tell you how smooth those sets load into the PC3. Most probalby they will without problems, but they might sound a bit different. Not for the samples themselves, but the FX-section, and sometimes correct panning of parts is completely missing or wrong. It might take some skill to adapt this to the modern version.
I ported some K2-synthsounds to the PC3 and found that issues. But I can tell nearly all sounds without sophisticated synth-modulation in their body load without problems. Pianosounds usually don´t belong to that type, so they should load easily.
But you will have to attach new FX to that. Maybe the ones used for the PC3 pianos might fit. Most proably also some minor synth parameter tweaking might be necessary to give the sounds a better feel.
Sorry I can´t do any of that work, I don´t own a PC3 K-version (maybe next year) and I also don´t own a set of those samples. In fact I´d be more interested to get hold of that new samples used in the Artis and try to port them to the PC3.
For now I am still quite happy what I have in my PC361. I use it on stage only (sometimes sessions) and musicians tell me it sounds excellent, including the piano. Though they are familiar with the sounds of those Nord-instruments.

Is is possible to modify the PC3K8 with regards to memory and display? ie...being able to add the flashplay and a new color display like that of the Forte. If not, some new piano samples like the new samples on the Forte sure would be nice. ANYTHING new would be great. Maybe Kurzweil can adapt the addition of VST's in their boards.

I guess not. It´s a small team of technicians, I guess all energy is bound elsewhere. They have been developing the Artis and the Forte recently and I guess now they are working on the next thing. Might be a successor to the PC3 line.
But I still see lots of room for sample libraries that are adapted to the PC3k-line.

Yeah. They are doing some great new things. I just wish they could keep supporting their older boards. I'm sure it would be easy for them to tweak the new piano samples on the Forte to match the engine in the PC3. They can use the PC3 samples in the Forte.
