Yup, Kurzweil newbie here. Just picked up a SP6 to replace an old KX88 controller on blind faith, and couldn't be happier.
Been playing piano since I was 3 (so about 45 years). Synths since I was 14 (Started with a Korg Poly-800). I was disillusioned with MIDI in the mid-80s and concentrated on Piano/Rhodes and Hammond for a number of years.
Upon retiring (bought out) from the IT sector in the early 2000's I started working as a gigging musician again in a fairly popular local cover band. When the band dissolved I was approached by some musicians in the Woodstock area to do some studio/session work, so I started doing that full-time, first on keyboards, then expanding out to other instruments.
I'm one of those people that is sort of cursed with musical instruments as far as being able to play just about anything if you give me a week. In addition to keys, I play just about anything with strings, and have some moderate luthier skills I picked up along the way out of neccessity.
I must admit it's very nice to finally have a piece of gear that sounds and feels so great, and I don't have to worry about something going wrong with it in the middle of a gig. :-)
My home/ Studio is situated on the only private property on a 66 acre lake surrounded by NYS "Forever Wild" forest for miles around, so I don't have to worry about bothering any two-legged neighbors.
Well I realize this is pretty lengthy, but I thought I would just introduce myself.
