You can never have enough lead sounds, so here's a versatile program, with which you can create Minimoog-style monophonic leads (or sustained basses) in seconds, using just the sliders.

The program is based around the standard subtractive structure, 2 oscillators into a filter with envelope, into the amp with envelope, and a LFO for vibrato. I included 4 variations of the program, which differ in the waveform of the second oscillator or have additional processing between the oscillators and the filter. Effects are a limited but effective choice of chorus on/off and clocked delay with one slider for both delay level and time.

Controllers

Here are the standard controller assignments:

Slider A: Oscillator Detune (~+/-25ct)
Slider B: (variable, see below)
Slider C: Filter Cutoff
Slider D: Filter Resonance
Slider E: Filter Env Amount
Slider F: Filter Env Attack
Slider G: Filter Env Decay
Slider H: Filter/Amp Env Release
Slider I: Delay Level/Time
SW: Chorus on/off
MWheel: Vibrato speed/width
Pitchbend: +2st/-12st

Programs

The programs included are:

MiniMock Saw 1 - Classic lead with two very lightly detuned sawtooth waves. Slider B raises the pitch of oscillator 2 a fifth
MiniMock Saw 2 - Variation of above, just using different slider/switch positions, which turns it into a resonant bass drone
MiniMock Saw+Sqr - Classical lead with a mix of sawtooth and square wave. Slider B adjusts the balance between oscillator 1 and 2
MiniMock Saw+PW - Thin lead with a mix of sawtooth and pulse wave. Slider B adjusts the pulsewidth of oscillator 2
MiniMock Saw+Shp - Inserts a shaper between the two sawtooth oscillators and the filter. Slider B adjusts the shaper amount
MiniMock Saw+Dst - Inserts a distortion block between the two sawtooth oscillators and the filter. Slider B adjusts the distortion level

Audio Demo

I created two short audio demo pieces for the MiniMock Saw 1 and MiniMock Saw+Sqr programs. You can listen to them on my SoundCloud page.

FUN STUFF!!!

Thanks!

I'm putting them in a setup, one of them in each zone... try it out!

Fran

Thanks for your kind comment! Make sure to use the sliders to come up with your own variations and don't hesitate to delve into the EDIT mode to change a few things, e.g.

- Mono/Poly mode
- Portamento on/off and time
- Insert effect chains
- Add aux effect chains, e.g. some reverb
- VA oscillator types
- Envelope timings beyond what's possible through the sliders

Have fun!

...would be great if you are able to recreate something close to wonderful solo's sounds coming from Minimoog or Moog Source of the great Toby Smith from Jamiroquai (Space cowboy and so on...that liquid and intense sound he uses a lot in that fantastic band)

Hmm, I have to admit that I haven't listened to Jamiroquai since my student days in the nineties. Wikipedia says there are two different versions of Space Cowboy. Which one are you after? I suggest you post a request with a link to a video and exact time index in the Sound Requests forum.

every song from them could be right.
Useful also for you, listen to some early songs on you tube.
Mr Moon, Space cowboy, Cosmic girl, whatever you choose....they are still great.
