Hi to all, for what I know there is just an available editor for my SP4, which is not really cheap (59$). Unfortunately the procedure to load new sounds seems to be really annoying, time wasting if you don't have the commercial editor. So, as a computer programmer, I am thinking to create an easy to use Editor or at least Librarian for my SP4. But I need one among two things:
1) The SysEx specifications (which I cannot found). This could allow to create an Editor.
2) The file format for a bank of 64 files, so that I can create with the PC a bank of 64 sounds and then load it into the SP4 (that is load ONE file instead of 64!!!).

Anyoune can help me?

Thank you in advance,

Luigi

Hi,

There aren't public specs for those things.

Some communities have developed their own tools putting tons of hours into that... have a look at www.cunka.com

Fran

Note too, even though you can only load one FILE at a time from the SP4 itself, the .SPX file can contain up to 64 User Programs and 64 User Setups or any smaller combination thereof.

For reference, at the link below are some articles on loading/saving etc.:

Thank you both for your quick answers.

The reason why I'm looking for the file format specs is that I have problems to try ALL the sounds that are let available for my SP4: the huge library that I downloaded from this excellent site contains 1K files. If it were possible to put 64 of them into a SPX file then it would be nice and easy to test them or to prepare libraries of sounds depending on the event in which I have to play. I could easily update my 64 patches bank just making some drag and drop on my PC. Now, for what I know, I have to load a file at a time, and each of the loadings requires some effort (not just pressing a button!).

So, if someone knows the files format of the SPX and the PLE files I could write such tool and release it for free to the "K"ommunity,

Luigi

Luigi,

It might be worth touching base with Brian over at Cunka about this stuff. He's built toolbox which looks inside Kurzweil files and has a good knowledge of the file format.

Hello Luigi,
I use this SP4 Object Manager and also the editor of SoundTower:
SP4 Manager for MAC
SP4 Manager for Win32bit
SP4 Manager for Win64bit
If you are using a Mac, for organ sounds, you can also try my Logic Pro X Environment. ;)

The links for the SP4 Manager files no longer work. Does anyone have updated links, or an alternate source for these programs?
