Hi all,
been struggeling with this issue for 2 weeks now....the sollution might be simple, but i dont get it
I recently got an old Yamaha DX27, old synt. I dont want to use it for its sounds, but just to use it as an extra keyboard for my PC3LE8.
I connected them with a midi cable.
Example:
Got a 3 layered setup (1)piano, 2)strings, 3)trumpets)
I want to use my DX27 to play the trumpet-zone while i play zone 2&3 on my PC3le8. I've tried alot of things, but no luck so far.
The DX27 transmit midi on channel 3 (same zone-nr als trumpets), but when i play the DX27, i also hear zones 1&2.
And...i hear all layers while playing on my pc3le8.
Is it possible to use my DX27 for just playing 1 zone in mu setup (like it's somesort of split of the pc3le8 own keyboard?)
Hope you guys understand my question and can help me...i searched google and this forum but never found a solution.
Thnx!
Hi Gilliath,
Here’s what to do:
On the MIDI RECV page (Master mode on the LE) set the LocalKbdCh to “None”.
Then edit your Setup and on the (CH/PRG) page, set Zn3's InputChannel to “3M”. (manual ref. pg 7-8)
Give this a try and if you need further help, please contact me here:

Hi Gilliath!
I use my PC361 with external keyboard and it's a perfect solution for my gigs
I do it this way:
For channel that uses external keyboard set key range on highest possible range and..that's all. You will not be able to reach that note on your PC3, but keyboard will still play.
In fact when i program new setup i always leave channel 1 empty for my keyboard even when i don't need it (but maybe i will in future).
I can post few setups that should play without any settings, but your external keyboard should transmit on channel 1.
One more Option:
The PC3 is always in multimode, even while you just play programs. You are just on one channel, playing, but there are 15 more in the background ready. You should be able to play them, and play the one in front of you on the PC3 keyboard the same time.
