Hi All

I am KV from Malaysia and a new owner of PC3K6. As I couldnt find any much info on manuals for sequencing on PC3K, I would appreciate any advise and help from forum members.

1. How Do I create a pattern ? (like in other synths Korg or Roland, there are pattern makers)
2. Can individual channel have its effect chain??

If I remember right Kurzweil don`t operate with patterns as the others synths but with a straight lined sequenser (like a daw).

Have not read up about the effects part.

Hi KV, welcome to the forum.
You can create a loop in the song mode -the BIG page.
Set the Time In and Time Out points and the Loop to LOOP.

If you are interested in using the loops as part of a performance situation, you will want to read about RIFFs in the setup mode part of the manual.
Many of the Factory setups use Riffs (basically loops), so check those out.

As for FX, each channel on the Pc3 uses the insert effects that are set in the program you are using. Song mode works that same way- until you run of resources.

Hope this help,good luck
Phil

@philskeys

Thanks a million for this advise. Being a Korgie and Rolander for years, I really failed to understand the sequencer of Kurzweil. Now I am getting some idea....

Few more questions to bother.. :D

a) There are no pattern Sequencers in Kurzweil ?
b) is there real time quantize ?
c) Drum kit need to be in Track 10 ? (is it a must?)

No realtime quantizize, but can be done after you have recorded the part.
No pattern, but you can make a loop and use it as a riff in live playing situations.
Drum kit needs to be on a drum channel. You can choose (if I remember right) what channel you want this to be, but you only have one.

(please correct me if I say something wrong as I am used to the old K2000)

a) In addition to what has been mentioned, You can also create patterns in the arppegiator (setup mode) Choose a shift pattern and press EDIT. It's a step sequencer. Might not be what you are looking for.

b) There is now realtime quantize. Find the MISC page and adjust Quant and Grid.

c) Drums can go on any of the 16 tracks, and all of them can be designated as a "drum track" so the notes don't change if you need to transpose the song. It's all in the manual.

Have fun!

Thanks to kimgul & philskeys

The drum track assignment is similar to Roland's... however, using setup as pattern seq. is a very wise idea.. I wish it can be applicable to anykind of track data like drum patterns, complex violin runs...

you guys really open the power of kurzweil to me.... long years, I have been pampered by Korg's touch screen system... :P

Now I have question (d)

d) can the Song mode take step sequence?? like keying in notes at the flaw like other synth sequencers?

Step edit was possible in the K2 series song mode's, but this feature isn't included in the PC3 series song modes.

Arpeggiator patterns are the closest you'll get.
