Here is my attempt to make the lead sound for the famous "The Final Countdown" song. I'm not fully satisfied with the sound so feel free to improve it and please let me know how to get it better :)

Play especially with the sliders B, C, D and E. F-I is for effects.

BR,
Matti

Not my setup, but this youtube page has a link to download the setup, and there is a tutorial video too for some of the sounds:

Might be helpful to some people here for making effects to use in other songs.

Hi,

I found some info about this famous sound:

From an interview with Europe's keyboard player Mic Michaeli http://www.musicplayers.com/features/ba ... Europe.php

MPc: First things first – every keyboard player, even today, wants to know what synths were used to create the famous lead sound from “The Final Countdown.”

Mic: It was a Yamaha rack thing, the TX-816, it was basically eight DX-7s in a module, together with a Roland JX-8P. I made a brassy sound from the JX-8 and used a factory sound from the Yamaha, and just layered them together. It’s a very special sound. I haven’t been able to create it on any other synth since then, so now when I play it live, I just sampled that sound and use that as the “Final Countdown” sound.

Regards,
Fran

Great job Gio!

Would someone on here be able to adjust this setup down one semitone please?

When I transpose the sound several layers stay at their original level.

I have followed as many steps as I can on the tutorial video, but the screens only match the information for some of the affected layers.

The two sounds play in the original video at 0:16 and 0:23.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went through the layers of this again today, and now have a makeshift version to play.

As far as I could hear, layers 2 and 4 had the supersaw sound, with an added effect on layer 5. Layers 19 and 20 had the softer sound.

I was able to adjust layers 19 and 20, but I had to follow the instructions on the tutorial video to make new sounds for layers 2 and 4, I couldn't see where to change their pitch and still have no idea why.

Amazing Job Gio!

This is the best sound setup on my Kurzweil SP6.
Unbelievable what can be programmed into one sound setup.

Best regards,
Frank
