I once had some patches for the K26XX from the Emu Emulator II.
Does anyone have any samples or patches from the Emulator?

There are some EMU samples over at the Sweetwater k2000 page:

Mainly looking for Strings and Synths.
I really liked the early OMI & Northstar Libraries .
Were they ever made for Kurzweil?

I doubt they were.
OMI and Northstar libraries for EMU EII were made for the worldwide 1st optical media (media itself and drive) ever produced for samplers.
Originally, you needed the OMI optical media drive AND the 3 original media discs (OMI Universe of Sounds Vol.1 & 2 and Northstar Vol.3) to get access to the samples and programs.
The media discs, when existing in usable condition, aren´t readable by today´s optical media drives in any way.
There´s a copyright on the libraries.

The only (legal !) way was/is:

1.)
Own a EMU EII
2.)
Own the 3 media discs
3.)
Own,- or get access to,- a working OMI optical media drive
4.)
Own Digidesign Sounddesigner EII
5.)
Load the files into the EMU EII one by one and save it to Digidesign Sounddesigner EII running on a very old MAC.

Fuget it !

But,- when you have the files already,- download EMXP http://users.skynet.be/emxp/ . It´s free.
There´s also a link for "CDS3tool".

Quote:
CDS3TOOL is a utility that can extract Emulator-II and Emax soundbanks from CDS3/OMI cdroms

EMXP converts all kind of EMU samples across the EMU range of samplers and there are (Oberheim) DPX-1, (Sequential) Prophet 2K tools too.
Latest version also supports AKAI S-1000/3000 format.
So, the results will be EMU EIII, Emax, EmaxII, EMU EOS sample formats as well as WAV and SF2 or AKAI.

Once the original EII (or SD EII) format is converted into a format modern sample converters can read, you´re ready to go and convert .krz by p.ex. using CDXtract http://www.soundlib.com/cdxtract/ .
You´d need EMU EIII sample format as the source for CDXtract.

B.t.w.,- OMI still exists, it´s "Q up Arts" today and they hold the copyright.
The "Universe of Sounds Vol. 1 & 2" samples/programs are still available,- for NI Kontakt.

Northstar Vol.3 doesn´t exist anymore, it was discontinued long time ago.

I doubt you´ll get the samples for free legaly though.
But who knows what happens when you google for "EII Universe of Sounds" and have some patience.

good luck

D.C.
