I started out with one of these:

Cheap but decent enough to play thru in mono mode.
Then I ended up getting a pair of these so I could enjoy stereo:

Better, but still lacking in bass tones.
Finally I ended up adding this to my monitors and NOW I'm a happy camper.

NOW i can enjoy ALL of the sounds I create with the added bonus of giving my neighbour's dog a cerebral aneurysm at 300 paces
Anyway, what it really boils down to is subjective. What styles of music do you play and how critical is your ear? And ultimately what is your budget.
Nowadays if this is only for your home I'd say at least get yourself a pair of studio monitors so you can play in stereo especially if you don't plan to gig with them.
If I were shopping today I'd probably pick up a pair of these instead of the M-Audios.

Or even a pair of these:

And decide later if you need to boost the bass or not.

Thanks Gary, you realy gave me a good background about sound and amp. So maybe first I'll go for something small and cheap and then go pr some Makie of 5 or 8, but now because of $, I'll start from what my buget let me get, haha
Thanks!
No prob. The main thing with amps is that even if you don't listen at loud levels you still need the higher power outputs to give you the maximum dynamic headroom for the crescendo notes.
Even my setup, I rarely turn the volumes above 2 or 3 on the knobs.

In case you JUST want to use it at home and it had to be really cheap, get a set of decent stereo speakers for desktop-computers. Add an adaptor for wiring and there you go. It´s not really HiFi, but it´s okay, depending on the quality of the speakers.
Yeah I didn't mention that option because I didn't want to confuse the guy, but if he REALLY wants to do it on the cheap and has a decent stereo system he could always plug directly into his auxillary input with a cable like this one.

Any good quality stereo system has both the dynamic headroom and the frequency response to handle any keyboard input signal.
Otherwise if he plans to kluge on a set of computer speakers I'd recommend this set and the appropriate cable adapters. Again easily capable of handling the dynamic range and frequencies of a keyboard.

EDIT >>> This is the appropriate cable to use with the Klipsch Computer Speakers.

I highly recommend the Hosa Cables. They are excellent quality for reasonable prices.
