Hi,

Another poll!

What's your favorite number of keys in a synth/workstation?

I have done similar question to the Beta testers with very interesting results. I'd like to compare with the ksetlisters (yes, I know, some ksetlisters are Beta testers as well, so there's some overlap).

Please, choose your range.

And I know the ranges look funny, but they are like that for a reason.

As a reference, Kurzweil keyboards are currently, 88, 76 and 61.

And thanks,

Regards,
Fran

Comment: The 72-75 are quite interesting, though I did not choose it. Maybe out of a resason I never considered it as a common size. But somehow I like the thought of it. Mabye delete my vote for 76 and add 1 to 72.
Maybe do another poll for "synth action" or "weighted".
My favorite when it comes to keys are the medium-sized Motifs. They are called "half weigted" but in fact they are a bit lighter than the remakable heavy synth action keys of the PC361.
I adapted to the feel of the PC361-keys, now I like the soft response of them more than the Yamahas, but I HATE that seesaw-effect. They are not good fitted into the case. They have no lower limit on their long ends, the felt that is attached under them to the case doesn´t do anything. It´s to small and useless - maybe is good to prevent the dust from falling into the synth.
The old K2000 keys are better.
I guess the "perfect" style of keys is very important to get connected to your instrument. Guitarplayers often work for years on that, keyboarders don´t seem to spend much attention to that.

76. 73 (Korg) is lame, and 88 won't fit across the back seat of my car.

88 all the way, baby.

Although, I'd definitely like to see a 128 key controller, some day, so we can approach to each and every note possible by the MIDI standard. :D I even have a rough mockup of how should it look. :D

ED, you will definitively need a roadie to carry that one!

Or, well, you can always carry that one flying...

Fran

I Love the 88 keybed!
I use 73 and 76 for my live giggs. The 88 don't fin in my car.
49 TO 61 are best for va synths.

I carry nowadays a PC3, a 2600r and a pc3le6.

Hi all,

We have also run this poll in our Facebook page, and we are having a pretty great number of votes:

Thanks for all of you for helping with this. Believe it or not, stuff like that can make a difference.

Regards,
Fran

I have a 76 note Motif and I'm pretty sure I've never played the top two or three keys.
